Press Note: CGR Earns Rs.52 Crore Gross For Opening Weekend !!
Pawan Kalyan starrer Telugu political
satire “Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu” garnered a whopping Rs.52 crore at
the box office, which includes overseas collection, in its opening
weekend, despite Telangana activists disrupting screenings in some parts
of Andhra Pradesh.
The film released worldwide Oct 18 in more than 1,500 screens.
“The film collected approximately Rs.52
crore in its opening weekend. Due to political protest, the collections
on second day (Oct 19) dropped drastically, but it picked up on third
and fourth day,” trade analyst Trinath said.
Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film,
reportedly made at a budget of Rs.25 crore, collected a Rs.13.5 crore on
its opening day at the domestic box office.
In the US, it collected Rs.1.85 crore from the first two days of its screening.
“Power star movie does power packed
business. ‘Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu’ in US collects total of $345,357
(Rs.1.86 cr),” Taran Adarsh tweeted.
In the film, Pawan Kalyan plays a
mechanic, who accidentally becomes a journalist and locks horns with
Prakash Raj, a corrupt politician.
The film invited the wrath of Telangana
activists following its release, especially from students of the Osmania
University (OU) Joint Action Committee (JAC), activists of the Telugu
Desam and the YSR Congress, over certain characters, dialogues and
scenes.
“Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu”, which was
produced by D.V.V. Danayya, also starred Tamannah Bhatia, Brahmanandam,
Ali and M.S. Narayana in the lead roles. (IANS)
